ITCA Technical Chairman

The IMCA and ITCA Executive have decided to hold off commitment to filling the places in the 2023 twin World Championships until the end of 2022.

This will allow for the National Organisations who have yet to finalise their Membership with either the IMCA or ITCA or both, to be completed. Please do not leave this to the last minute because it can take up to a month to be finalised.

A Membership to the IMCA and ITCA guarantee a proper allocation of competitor entry positions based on the Championship Rules. Non-member entries will have to rely on the small number of "invitation" positions for special cases.

This delay will expire on the 31st of December 2022.

This started with the competing bids between ITA and GBR for the world championship in 2020. Some people may remember the presentations during the M/10R world championship in Biblis 2018. Then Covid crashed every plan and the world championship in GBR 2020 was cancelled. The Italian crew nevertheless continued their work and planned for an European Championship in 2021 which was approved. But again because of Covid it was postponed first to 2021 and then to 2022. In parallel IOMICA moved its events around to get something up during these Covid times. A lot of background mail traffic was going between all the organizations involved and this has led to a new approach which can now be announced:
  • To avoid 3 world championships (IOMICA and ITCA/IMCA combined event) in one year
  • In the future return to one year of IOMICA worlds and one year for IMCA ITCA worlds
  • Covid forced the Italian Management team to move the event to 2023
The ITCA/IMCA Executive Committee therefor asked the Italian Management Team to change the 2023 event to an World Championship to come back to the proposed schedule and they accepted this approach.

So, we can announce now again a combined World Championship in Marblehead and Ten Rater Class in Italy

Castiglione del Lago, Italy

April 23rd to May 3rd, 2023

further information will come soon when website and more information is ready to publish.

The current health situation is complex and many countries are suffering a resurgence of the Covid virus. Some travelling international restrictions have already been set in place and it is not possible to foresee what could happen next European spring.

The Marblehead and 10 Rater ICA Executives are in agreement with the organising committee of the 2022 combined European Championship to take the decision to postpone the event.

The two classes would like to thank Circolo Vela Castiglionese for offering to move the event and host again in 2023.

The new proposed date is from 23 April to 3 May, 2023 at the same venue.

In the meantime, there are plans for a replacement 10R event to be held at the same venue for those who can make it under current Covid restrictions.

The planning is for a 10R class three day event from 14 to 16 May, 2022 named “Nation Cup 10R” that will also include the 10R Italian Championship open to Italian and foreign skippers, in compliance with all the current anti-covid rules.

We are confident in your understanding and support in these uncertain times.

European Cup organising Committee.

Phil Holiday has to resign as Secretary of the Association and Nigel Winkley has been coopted by the Executive Committee.

After many years as a Class Association within the IRSA, the TenRater (ITCA) class is now fully operational as an International Class Association.

The last part was the separation and agreement with the IRSA on an Associate Membership. This gives the new association the ability to now determine its own future including the development and promotion of international events like Regional and World Championships.

Registration is done the official seat of the association will be

International TenRater Class Association
House of Sports
Talgut Center 27
CH-3063 Ittigen

we go now the next step to become Associate Members of the IRSA and take over the full role as International Class Association

After some delay regarding the COVID Situation the EC restarted working on the Foundation of the Class Association.

Attached the Constitution of the new Class Association which will go now to register the class in Switzerland.

ITCA Constitution

At the 2016 World Championships at Lake Garda, Italy, several interested groups worked on the founding and development of an International Class Association. This has taken some time to reach this point, but over the last few months great progress has been made with the help of key individuals to finish the development of the ITCA.

This involved the writing of an international standard Constitution to guide future executive committees and the development of a realistic schedule to turn a strong desire for an association into reality over the next 12 months.

The Schedule of Events

Dec 2019: Establishment of the Foundation Executive to oversee the next 12 months in preparation for the General Assembly and to assist the 2020 WC organisation in West Kirby.

Dec and Jan 2019/20: Invitation of prospective Member Nations

Jan 2020: Final discussion finishes on the future details of the organisation and it’s Constitution

1st Feb.2020: Vote on Constitution by the Foundation Executive and Members
